Harare - After his ability to mingle and listen to people at Oliver Mtukudzi's funeral, the ruling party is somehow running scared.

And now, opposition leader Nelson Chamisa was allegedly barred from entering the giant stadium in the capital, during a celebration gala to mark Mtukudzi's illustrious career, spanning four decades.

Their fears are genuine, after Chamisa seems to be gaining further ground as compared to the waning status of the current president.

"ZANU-PF is disgusting. Oliver Mtukudzi is not a ZANU-PF hero, neither is he just a national hero. He is an international hero. He belongs to everyone.

"This funeral is not a ZANU-PF funeral. Barring Prez @nelsonchamisa from entering the Stadium was stupid...very stupid," tweeted Patson Dzamara, a brother to the missing Itai.

"The decision by state agents to bar @nelsonchamisa from entering the National Sports Stadium is cowardly and totally unacceptable.

"Although Hon Zwizwai and myself tried to remonstrate with the government ministers present it was to no avail," says SG Douglas Mwonzora.

Zimbabweans have reacted angrily yo the act, which was executed fearing Chamisa would steal the thunder form the embattled premier.

"Zimbabwe does not belong to ZANU PF," wrote one disgruntled observer.

At the time of Mtukudzi's death, the country was engaged in a war-like situation, with soldiers running amok, assaulting civilians, while some reports of s.exual violence have been reported.

The charismatic leader has paid tribute to the legendary musician.

"To me a father and counselor. To the nation,an advisor and ambassador to generations. To the world, a peace icon,a bundle of talent, calabash of wisdom. You gave your all to us all.

"You consoled, counselled and entertained Zimbabwe and beyond. You will be sorely missed Samanyanga."
